Long curly red hair, blue/gray eyes, and though it’s not noticeable, she does have a slight baby bump.
Abilities: Vivien is an accomplished cook, though she never tried
to follow it professionally. She does however have a near (if not)
professional skill with the Cello, though she doesn’t play anymore and
refuses to even pick up the instrument. It’s unknown why she quit, but
she did and when pushed to play, she simply ignores the individual.
She’s not strong physically, but she makes up for that with choosing
heavy or blunt weapons, such as; candle stick holders, bats, golf clubs,
and if it’s available, knives.
Personality: Vivian is a mother, but has a rougher personality
than most would imagine. She’s not afraid to put her hands on a child if
it will get the message through and she won’t tolerate being ignored or
disrespected, particularly by a child or someone that she feels should
respect her. Unable to keep her tongue in check, she’ll call things as
she sees it with no care to if it would hurt someone’s feelings. If she
thinks it needs to be said, she’s not afraid to speak her mind and will
do whatever it takes to get what she wants.
She’s almost fearless, the only time that she truly gets worried is if
she feels her children or a loved one is in danger. Vivien has rushed
headlong into danger with nothing more than a golf club as protection,
but as soon as she realized her dog and baby were in danger, she seemed
to become more guarded and aware of her surroundings; torn between
making the house safe for her family and keeping herself safe to protect
her baby.
Aside from that though, she is creative and a crafty individual. She
loves remodeling houses, cooking, and she used to play the Cello. It’s
unknown why she stopped, but from what we know, it seems like something
traumatic happened or her husband encouraged her to stop; currently she
has no desire to pick up an instrument again.
Above all else, she’s typically calm unless her ire is stirred. Where
some people can’t seem to sit still, she’s content to sit at a table
with a warm cup of tea and read a book or to simply lie on the couch and
pet her dog. There’s no real desire to go looking for trouble or to go
out of her way to find excitement.
Vivien has also been shown to be a sensual individual. She’s not one to
cheat on a lover or spouse, but seeing as she’s getting divorced, she
certainly wouldn’t turn down a date if it was offered and she felt a
real interest in the person.
Strengths: Vivien is a cook and a homemaker with a tongue of
steel. Even if the person was three feet taller than her, she’d still
get in their face and berate them if it was deserved. With a little
help, she could be effective at setting traps and keeping them well
hidden with her sharp eye for detail. She has a great capacity for love,
though it’s not often recognized, and would die for her loved ones. She
also has a tendency to listen to others problems and help in ways that
few people would. Whereas most people let themselves become blinded my
emotion, she uses logic to offer advice.
Weaknesses: Her rough personality and blunt way of speaking tends
to intimidate most people. This can make it hard for her to get close
to people, especially if they’re teenagers.
Vivien has an almost crippling fear of loss. She’s already lost her
husband, a baby, and on arrival to the manor almost everything she’s
ever known. If she becomes close to someone or something, she’ll do
anything to keep them; just short of sitting through them cheating on
her or harming her.
Though she loves it, she’s unable to drink alcohol currently. It’s not
really a weakness, just a note. Her favorite is white wine, but due to
her pregnancy, she’s unable to drink alcohol in any form.
Though she’s not truly able to fight; she has a brash and reckless
personality. Instead of running and hiding like a sane person, she’ll
rush headlong into a fight if she thinks it’s the right thing to do.
Somehow she never seems to get hurt, but it’s usually a very close call
for her.
Hormones. She refuses to take hormones, or eat anything with chemicals
or hormones in it. She eats purely organic things, and will even go so
far as getting food from outside if her only option was something that
she felt was pumped with growth hormones and doused in pesticides.
Her biggest weakness at the manor though? I can already tell you that
one with certainty. That dog. Hallie is a big part of her life and she
loves that dog as much as a child. She’ll do anything for it and will do
whatever it takes to keep it happy and content.
History: Ready for this?
Vivien lived in Boston with her husband and daughter Violet, the wife of
a successful psychologist and a content housewife. That contentment
grew to complete joy when she found out she was pregnant, things were
going right for once; it just wasn’t meant to be though…
When she was seven months pregnant, she lost the baby and had to carry
and deliver a stillborn son. This very nearly broke her; she was unable
to cope with the loss and distanced herself from her husband, not
knowing how to communicate or cope with her loss. After they buried the
child, she acquired a dog in the hopes of having something to love her
and depend on her as much as the baby would have. This didn’t go over so
well with Ben, her husband. He felt that she should have been loving on
him and taking comfort from him and not a dog. Desperate for some love
and comfort, he turned to someone else. A student. Things like this
can’t be hidden forever though.
When coming home early from shopping, Vivien heard a noise upstairs.
This wouldn’t have been strange except for the fact that there wasn’t
supposed to be anyone else home. After calling the police and grabbing a
knife, she went to investigate the noise, scared of who could be in her
home, but unwilling to simply leave and forever worry about who it may
have been. Locating the noise as coming from her bedroom, she pushed to
door open to a horrifying sight. Her husband was screwing his student,
Hayden, in her bed. Disgusted and traumatized, she backed away and
started to go back downstairs. Turning when he grabbed her arm, she
attacked him with the knife, slicing into his upper arm. Facing betrayal
and a possible divorce due to everything that had happened, they
decided to try and move in an effort to rebuild their relationship and
salvage their marriage.
Moving to Los Angeles, they hope to regain what was lost with a fresh
start. Moving into a renovated mansion, they are unaware that it is
haunted and that the previous homeowners still haunt the premises.
While Ben tries to rebuild his practice, he works out of the house while
Vivien puts all of her focus into restoring the house to what it was;
removing wallpaper to reveal the murals and tending to the garden.
Working on the house takes her mind off of things, particularly with Ben
constantly after her to forgive him a sleep with him again, an act that
repulses her after what happened in Boston.
While working on the house, a girl manages to sneak into the house and
finds Vivien, telling her that she’s “going to die”. Naturally this
disturbs Vivien; thankfully, the girl’s mother comes to collect her and
apologizes to her for her daughter, Adelaide. As a peace offering, the
mother gives her a box containing a sage smudge to cleanse her house.
She’s a little disturbed by her neighbors, but she merely chalks it up
to her new neighbors being kooky.
Moving through the house with the sage, she decides to go up into the
attic and investigate the spacious room. Turning on the light, she turns
to see something that scares her at first. A full rubber S&M suit.
Telling her husband to throw it away, it doesn’t strike her as odd that
while everything else in the attic is dirty, the suit is perfectly clean
without a speck of dust touching it.
Not everyone is as unpleasant as Constance and her daughter though. The
very same day, she acquires a maid, Moira.
Moira apparently worked for all the previous homeowners and seems to
come with the house. Grateful for the help, she hires Moira to help her
with the housework and to help her clean and cook. Seeing Moira as an
elderly red-headed woman, she doesn’t realize that Ben sees a young
twenty something seductive maid. Learning that Moira used to work for
her neighbor, she’s grows more comforted by the fact that the woman is
one of the more normal people that she’s met in her time in LA.
That evening, she goes back to working on the house, removing the
wallpaper to uncover disturbing murals filled with evil and death.
Taking in a bit of comfort from the images, she falls into an easy
conversation with her husband. Taking it as a sign of forgiveness, Ben
tries to put the moves on her, an act that causes her to become violent
and push him away. After he’s pushed away, he can’t hold his tongue
anymore and starts fighting with her, something that causes her to rise
to the defense and start yelling back. After saying everything that they
feel needs to be said, he again tries to hold her. Struggling for a
moment, they soon fall into each other’s arms and make love for the
first time in months.
Content, Vivien awaits her husband in their room, applying her evening
lotion to her arms and legs. Looking up as someone enters; she is mildly
surprised to see who she thinks is Ben standing in the doorway wearing
the S&M suit from the attic. Willing to be kinky, she has sex with
him but can somehow feel that something is wrong. Not saying anything
though, she lets him continue and doesn’t even watch as he leaves right
after. Lying in bed, she turns from the doorway and stares at the wall,
not completely sure of what just happened.
A few days later, she realizes that she’s pregnant. Feeling that their
life is finally getting back to normal, she accepts everything with open
arms. Good things aren’t meant to last forever though. Once Ben leaves
to ‘visit a patient’ in Boston, the house is broken into and invaded.
Fearing for her daughter and unborn child, she grows more aggressive and
once freed from her ropes, she attacks one of the intruders with a
bowl, viciously attacking them. Not knowing that her daughter friend
also broke in, she fears for her daughter and looks for her. Thankfully,
Tate, the friend, has already taken care of the other two intruders,
leaving the way open for Vivien and violet to leave unhindered.
Not feeling safe after what happened, she wants to move. She can’t stay
in the house and constantly worry that someone is going to break in and
hurt them again. Installing a high tech security system, she finds out
that they have no money to move elsewhere. All that they have is
invested in the house, the only way out is if they can sell it and make
back everything that they put into it. Making plans to put the house on
the market, she doesn’t realize just how odd her husband’s acting. The
main reason of which is that when he went to Boston, it was to meet with
Hayden. She didn’t know it, but Hayden was pregnant; and of course, Ben
was the father. He had gone to go with her to get an abortion, an
abortion that she ended up not getting. Since he left early, he was
unaware of her decision to keep the baby.
Even had he known, he likely wouldn’t have told Vivien, too scared of
losing his wife and children. Not knowing that Hayden had been
frequenting the house for two days, Vivien had been calling Hayden,
wanting to talk with her and tell her to leave Ben alone. What she
didn’t know is that Hayden was killed and buried on her property…yet
somehow, she was able to talk with the girl.
Preparing a party for Halloween, Vivien started having pains like the
baby kicking, which is impossible; She’s only 8 weeks pregnant, the
baby’s little more than the size of a kidney bean. Going to the
hospital, they leave Violet alone at the house while they make sure the
baby is okay. Getting a sonogram at the hospital, they were surprised to
hear that the baby seemed to be older than eight weeks. Seeing
something in the sonogram, the nurse seemed transfixed by something,
fainting not long after looking at it. Released with a clean bill of
health, they returned home after Violet called about someone beating on
the door and demanding money; the same man that killed Hayden.
In coming episodes, we’d find out that the nurse saw hooves and horns on
the baby. A demon child.
Growing impatient and pissed, (ghost) Hayden came back to the property
on Halloween, desperate to inform Vivien about her pregnancy and what
happened in Boston. Luring Vivien around the house, she cleverly
terrorized the woman; burning her bathroom and making her think that she
nuked her dog in the microwave.
Thankfully Hallie, the dog, didn’t get killed; she was merely locked in
the closet. Had the dog been killed, it would have more than broken
Vivien.
Finally finding Hayden, they finally found out the other was pregnant.
In an effort to ‘save’ Vivien and her baby, Hayden attempted to cut the
other woman’s child. Holding her by the neck, Vivien was able to keep
Hayden at a far enough distance to save herself and keep her baby safe.
Demanding that Ben tell her about Boston, Vivien was forced to listen as
she was told about the almost abortion and how Ben had been frequenting
Boston and continually seeing Hayden while trying to fix his marriage
with Vivien. As luck would have it, the security company showed up then
to take Hayden away. Fed up with the lies, Vivien told Ben she wanted a
divorce and threw him out of the house.
Living almost alone at the house, she grew closer to Moira and
Constance. Around this time, Constance started bringing her gifts of
meat, organs, for the baby. The first bit was okay, particularly as it
was cooked in sweet butter. The pancreas though, was to be served raw.
Disgusted with the thought, she didn’t even want to humor the idea of
eating it…in the end, she did though. As well as the brain that was
brought the next day. Now, every other meal is an organ, either cooked
or raw, she seems to savor it either way.
Upon going back to the doctor, it was revealed that her child was
healthy…and that it was twins. This of course concerns her. Where before
she was worried about a single child, she is now concerned for two and
is even more particular about what she eats.
